Lead Mine Elementary School 4th Grade

standards

Your child will have homework every night with the exception of Friday. They should spend approximately one hour on assignments. This may not include the required weekly reading time necessary to complete projects. Any unfinished work will be finished during recess or will be sent home and returned the following day. As a parent, you are the most important person in your child's life, and we need to work together for your child's benefit.

I need your support for the homework assignments, academic goals, and classroom discipline plan I have set for the students. I will keep you informed about your child's progress. With school and home working together, I know your child will have a successful year.

This year Wake County has adopted a new grading system based on mastery of standards rather than on a system driven by grades. This system will provide a clearer understanding of what your child is mastering by providing levels of achievement. Your child's assessment will be based upon academics and participation. Below is the current Standards Based Grading Scale.

Content:

4 = The student extends the targeted grade level standards.

3* = The student demonstrates proficiency of targeted grade level standards with evidence of application.

3 = The student demonstrates proficiency of targeted grade level standards.

2 = The student needs support to meet targeted grade level standards.

1 = The student has shown insufficient performance of targeted grade level standards with support.

Participation/Conduct:

3 = The student's level of performance and respect are at the expected level.

2 = The student's level of participation and respect are inconsistent with expectations.

1 = The student's level of participation and respect do not meet expectations.
