Frequently Asked Questions
This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
When a student is absent how much time does he/she have to complete the work? A packet of missed work will be ready by the end of the missed school day. Parents or someone else can pick up the packet that day. Students are usually given the same number of days missed to complete the school work. Obviously, special situations will be considered.
Can I meet the teacher? I am available before and after school for conferences. Parents may call or e-mail me to set up a conference at a mutually convenient time. If you leave a phone number, I will return your call. Parent/Teacher communication is a vital part of student success and achievement. Contact the school at (919)-870-4120 or e-mail me at sdaniels2@wcpss.net.
What about backpacks? We prefer students use a backpack without wheels.
What time does school start and end? School begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. Student drop off begins at 8:00 AM.
May I bring treats for my child’s birthday? Birthdays are special occasions. If your child wishes, he/she may bring treats for the class. These will be served during snack time. Please send a note a day or two in advance so I can give you an exact number of students. Please do not send party invitations to school unless the entire class has been invited. Although it may seem convenient to distribute invitations this way, it can result in hurt feelings for those not invited.
Do I need to send a note when my child is absent? On the day your child returns to school, please send a brief note explaining the reason for the absence. If your child has been taken to the doctor, a doctor’s note is sufficient.
